rare disease arising from damage to the glomerular filtration barrier by IgA-mediated inflammation.<sup>2,3<\/sup> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/clleancode.top\/travere-redesign\/publications\/clinicopathological-characteristics-of-adult-iga-nephropathy-in-the-united-states\/\">As the disease progresses patients develop<\/a><\/span><sup>3<\/sup>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-list-wrapper\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Eventually, 15 to 40% of patients progress to developing kidney failure due to IgA nephropathy.<sup>4<\/sup> Disease progression is associated with greater patient and healthcare system burden.<sup>5<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/clleancode.top\/travere-redesign\/episode\/getting-ahead-of-igan\/\">no cure for IgA nephropathy<\/a><\/span>, but angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEis) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are recommended to control blood pressure and proteinuria.<sup>6<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The lack of real-world evidence in the US on kidney failure due to IgA nephropathy is a barrier to addressing the unmet medical needs in this population.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-aim\"><br><span class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Using data from the US Renal Data System (USRDS) from 2008 to 2018, this study aimed to understand the epidemiology, characteristics, treatment patterns, and outcomes of patients with kidney failure due to IgA nephropathy.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 has-ocean-blue-color\">Approach<\/mark><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:12px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This was a retrospective cohort study of patients with kidney failure due to IgA nephropathy identified in the USRDS, a national database covering all patients with kidney failure.<sup>1<\/sup> Data on patient demographics, treatment modalities, and clinical outcomes were summarized.<sup>1 <\/sup>Patients were followed from USRDS registration (index date) until loss to follow-up, data end, or death.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Healthcare resource utilization and costs were evaluated by analyzing a subgroup analysis of patients with aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>During the study, the mean annual period prevalence and incidence of IgA nephropathy kidney failure in the US population was 39.3 and 2.9 per million persons, respectively.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Prevalence was higher among native
